
Penrith Sunday Service
This afternoon the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums led the annual ANZAC Sunday Service March hosted by the Penrith RSL sub-Branch. The march commenced at 2.45 pm and moved down Castlereagh Street and onto High Street to Memory Park where a commemorative service was held.

WOMEN VETERANS IN THE ADF SERVICE
This morning the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums were involved in the Women Veterans in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Service at Memory Park. This is a significant event as it recognises the contributions and sacrifices of our female veterans.

ANZAC SCHOOL SERVICE
Over 1500 students and teachers attended the ANZAC School Service at Penrith Paceway today. The service, which is an annual tradition in Penrith, was attended by over 50 local schools who provided representatives to lay their respective tributes in the wreath laying ceremony.

PENRITH RSL PIPES AND DRUMS ATTEND THE 2024 GREEK DAY
On Sunday 25th March, the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums attended the Greek Day Festival in the Sydney CBD. Most people would automatically ask, why pipe bands at a Greek Festival? Well bagpipes originated in Ancient Egypt. From as early as 400BC the pipers of Thebes are reported to have been blowing pipes made from dog skin and chanters of bone.

CHRISTMAS FUNCTION AND 2023 REPORT CARD
On Sunday the 19th of November the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums embarked on their last, and possibly their biggest performance of 2023. Teaming up with the City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch (Veterans), the band was asked to provide entertainment for the annual sub-Branch Christmas Function. The three (3) hour event was attended by over 160 veterans and their families.

2023 st Mary’s spring festival
On Saturday 02 September 2023, the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums were invited to perform at the 2023 St Mary’s Spring Festival . The festival is a community based event that showcases local businesses and performers and is a major annual event.

Long Tan LUNCHEON
On Sunday 20th August 2023, the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums performed at the City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch “57th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan” Commemorative luncheon. In attendance was the President of NSW RSL Mr Ray James OAM and representatives of the local Army and Airforce Cadet Units. It was a priviledge to perform in front of 100 plus veterans, many of which are Vietnam Veterans.

As we are aware, the primary function of the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums is to provide a professional and competent band for our community in an inclusive environment. As a band, we are committed and focused on the continued professional service we provide to both the Penrith RSL Club, The City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch and our community.

BERRY CELTIC FESTIVAL
On Saturday 27 May 2023, the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums, along with eight other bands, attended the Berry Celtic Festival. Attendance at the event is by invitation only which makes this event even more special. Members of the band travelled down on Friday night (Dave / Lisle) to ensure we had the best location to set up our tent. On the day the band were spoilt by a huge bain of home made veggie soup (thanks Mark), as well as free soft drinks, coffee, tea and a BBQ lunch (Thanks Terry).

PENRITH RSL PIPES AND DRUMS PERFORM BEYOND EXPECTATIONS
The Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums have had an extremely busy but rewarding month during April performing in a number of locations.

Bundanoon Becomes Brigadoon
On Saturday 01 April 2023, the Penrith RSL Pipes and Drums attended their first Major event by taking part in the 43rd Bundanoon Highland Gathering. Participation in the event was by invitation only with a limit of 25 bands. Bands were selected on a “first come basis” and if bands failed to respond by the cutoff date, they were automatically excluded.
